As well as hosting the best New Year’s Eve music festival New Zealand has to offer, there is heaps to do in Martinborough. It is home to one of the countries most thriving wine regions, with over 30 wineries on offer. Wine is the biggest industry in Martinborough, and partying and having fun is very important to the locals! Here’s a wee look at some activities you could do while you are here:
- Hire a bicycle and do a booze cruise, cycling from vineyard to vineyard, the landscape is beautiful and flat, and it’s an awesome way to see the region.

- The Martinborough Colonial Museum contains many artefacts and exhibits on the history of Martinborough and the surrounding area.
- The Hau Nui Wind Farm is pretty spectacular.
- There are several walks in the area; the Rapaki Walk takes you across farmland with beautiful views of the Wairarapa Valley.
